Annie Elizabeth Robinson, whose passing took place on September 8, 2012, was born in Garrison on August 1, 1914, the only daughter of Andrew and Dorothy Robinson; she grew up there with her three much loved brothers Tommy, Willie and Alex. At school she was affectionately known as Elsie, a name by which she was known for the rest of her life.

As a young woman she moved to Levally, Drumcose to work as housekeeper for the Rev. Steele, rector of Monea Church. Later she worked in the same capacity for many years for the Duke and Duchess of Westminster at Ely Lodge. Whilst working for the Rev. Steele she met and married Willie Robinson and moved into what was to become her lifelong home in Rooskey, Drumcose.

Elsie worked hard all her life, usually to help other people. A long standing member of both the Women's Institute and the Mothers' Union she was often found making tea at functions and events. A keen bowler, she was an active member of Devenish Indoor Bowling Club, playing well into her eighties when she was made President of the club. She was also a lifelong member of the LOL92 Women's Lodge. In her later years she was an active member of the Senior Citizens' Club in Derrygonnelly. Elsie loved cooking and knitting. Many have enjoyed her home-made bread, and countless babies have worn her beautiful hand-knitted matinee jackets.

A sign of her great spirit and strength, Elsie remained active in her own home, lovingly cared for by her daughter Dorothy, until shortly before her death on September 8, 2012. Elsie will long be remembered and will be sadly missed by many.
