A well-known Enniskillen woman, Mrs. Imelda Drumm (nee Gibson) died peacefully at the age of 82, after a short illness, on September 3, 2012, at her daughter's home, Mrs. Jane Dolan, 15 Glebe Park, Enniskillen.

The wake was held at her own residence at 27 Cornagrade Road, Enniskillen, where a large circle of friends came to pay their respects. She bore her illness with characteristic good humour.

Imelda was one of 10 children of Tommy and Jane Gibson. She was born on April 21, 1930 at Wellington Place, Enniskillen. Imelda was proud of her standing as having been 'born between the bridges'. She was educated at the Convent of Mercy, Enniskillen. After leaving school, her first job was with Gracey Brothers at Sedan Terrace where she was an egg packer for two years. She then went on to work as a receptionist for Doctor Bryson, Cherry Island for nine years. Imelda married John Drumm in 1954. She lost her first child Mary shortly after birth; she gave up work to raise her other children during their formative years, Jane, Maureen, Carmel, Patricia and Martin. Her last child John also died at birth. Following her motherly duties, she returned to work for several years in Standard Telephones, Adria and Kent Plastics in Enniskillen. She retired at the age of 62.

Imelda's interests in life were her family and friends; she was well-known for her many interests including knitting Aran sweaters, sewing, cooking, singing, and music. She was a member of St. Michael's Church Choir and took part in many musical shows under the direction of the Rev. Fr. Murphy such as "The Mikado", "The Gondoliers" and "Pirates of Penzance." She was full of fun and enjoyed life to the full.

Much respected by everyone, Imelda was a widely recognised figure, held in high regard by all who knew her. This was very much reflected by the large attendance at the funeral service. Her funeral mass on Wednesday, September 5, was concelebrated by the Rev. Fr. Noel McGahan and the Rev. Fr. Brian D'Arcy. The heavenly music was provided by Carlo Lucchesi, whom Imelda child-minded for several years (he affectionately referred to her as "Mama Drumm") Carmel Tracey and Helen Hamill, both family friends, soloist and organist respectively.

Interment took place at Breandrum Cemetery where Imelda joined her husband John Drumm (who died on July 15, 2002.) The funeral arrangements were by Patsy Dolan, Enniskillen. Imelda is survived by her daughter Jane married to Gaby Dolan, Maureen married to Andrew Browne, Carmel married to Eugene Magee, Patricia married to Martin Cadden and her son Martin married to Anne McConville. She also leaves her grandchildren Michelle, Paula, Mark, Francis, Imelda, Laura, Dermot, Conor, Eve and Garvin, her sisters Margaret McCauley and Ita Cahillane, brothers Bertie, Harry and Francis Gibson. She was predeceased by her sister May McClintock and brothers Maurice, Tommy and Desmond Gibson. Imelda's month's mind mass was held in St. Michael's Parish Church in Enniskillen on Friday, October 5, 2012.
