A well-known and highly regarded gentleman, Mr. Frank Hynes, who will be sadly missed by his family and friends, died on December 24, 2013, at the age of 81 years. Born between the bridges at Wellington Place, Enniskillen on April 29, 1932, Frank was the second of five children of the late Frank and Annie Hynes.

He was educated at the Brothers’ School, and then at the age of 16 he started his apprenticeship as an electrician with Sidney Reddick Electrics.

He then set up his own business, which he carried on through his working life.

Frank met his late wife Betty while working at Sidney Reddicks electrician’s, and they married in 1958.

They set up home in 1961 at 70 Derrin Road, where they raised their six children, and opened up their home to foster over 150 children over their 30 years together before Betty passed away in 1992.

Frank was a devoted husband and father, and grandfather to 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He provided constant support and encouragement to all his children as they grew up and he was very proud of their achievements.

His only other passions in life were billiards and snooker in which he was Fermanagh Champion.

He was a very quiet man and of a passive nature. Immaculate in appearance, he was always known as a very well dressed gentleman.

He was of a strong faith, worshipping at St. Michael’s Parish Church until his illness, Parkinson’s, saw him suffer from declining health.

The priest then visited him regularly at home, along with his great friend Eamon.

The high regard in which Frank was held was reflected in the large and representative attendance at the removal and funeral mass.

Frank is survived by his brother Jim Hynes, brother Adrian Hynes, and sister Mary McVitty.

He leaves his children Marian, Ali, Martin, Francis, Caroline, Janet (Thomas, Brian, James, Niall and Dillon), his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife Betty and brother Ignatius. Paying tribute to Frank, his family said: “Not only have we lost our father but also our best friend.” The funeral arrangements were by Mr. John McKeegan, funeral directors, to whom the family say they will forever be indebted for his kindness and support throughout this sad time.
