A native of Fermanagh, Mrs. Edith Cruikshank passed away recently in Sydney, Australia, at the age of 85 years.

She was born in 1928 and lived with her parents, Alfred and Florence Trotter, at Mullaghmeen and also at Gortaloughan, Co. Fermanagh. She studied at Enniskillen Technical College to become a legal secretary and worked for some time at Winslow’s Solicitors, Enniskillen, followed by a period at Taylor-Woods.

She married Crozier Phair in 1950 and they lived on their farm at Garvary, Co. Fermanagh before moving to Sligo Road, Enniskillen, where they had two children, Edwin and Barbara. After the closure of Taylor-Woods, they moved to Sydney, N.S.W. in 1967. Crozier died in 1974 and Edie worked as a barrister’s assistant while the children were growing up. She decided to return to live in Fermanagh after the children became adults and was married to Cecil Cruikshank for a number of years. After Cecil’s death she returned to Sydney to be closer to her Australian family and friends. She always held a great fondness for Enniskillen.

Edie is survived by her son Edwin, daughter Barbara, grandchildren Lindsay and Aralyn, and her brother Jackson, all of whom live in the Sydney area.
