A much loved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Louisa Patterson, passed away peacefully at the South West Acute Hospital, Enniskillen, on April 11, 2014. Lou, as she was known, was born on July 3, 1936, at Kiltenamullagh, Lisbellaw to the late Graham and Elizabeth Ford. She was the eldest daughter, having two sisters and one brother, Rhona at Falls, Cornafanogue, Whitfield at Kiltenamullagh, Lisbellaw and predeceased by Geraldine, Gola, Lisbellaw.

She attended Lisbellaw Primary School and, after school, worked in several office positions including Colebrooke Estate and Newtownbutler Post Office.

Being brought up in a Christian home she accepted Jesus into her life at an early age.

Her Christian faith was to be the foundation of everything she did in life.

At the age of 21, she married John Patterson of Tullynevin, Lisnaskea, where they made their home. They had two children, a daughter Joyce and son Gordon.

The attended Lisnaskea Methodist Church faithfully where she played the organ for many years and was Home Mission secretary which involved visiting many church members who were no longer able to attend church. She supported the Child Evangelism Fellowship and Faith Mission, both in prayer and financially.

She worked hard on the farm and loved to spend time in the garden. There was always a smell of fresh baking from the kitchen.

A devoted wife and mother, she was always putting others first. In time six grandchildren came along whom she adored. Childcare was never an issue while Granny was around.

She had an unbelievable memory for events, dates and times and her mind remained sharp until the end.

Although diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease 15 years ago, it was only in the last four years that she became dependant on her family and the wonderful home carers to whom she and her family are very grateful.

The funeral service, held at her home, was a service of thanksgiving for her life. It was conducted by Mr. Ian Graham and the Rev. Colin Milligan.

The hymns, chosen by her, were Will Your Anchor Hold, When My Life’s Work Is Over, I Shall Know Him and, her favourite, The Lord’s My Shepherd.

Lou is survived by her husband John, daughter Joyce and husband Ian, Ayr, Scotland, son Gordon and wife Jacqueline, Tullynevin, Lisnaskea. She leaves six grandchildren, Christopher and wife Simone, Ashley, Janice, Katherine and husband Graeme, Stephen, Laura and great granddaughter Lea.
