The death occurred peacefully on May 16, 2014, of Mrs. Mabel Henry, late of 3 Cashel Crescent, Scribbagh, Garrison.

A much loved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Mabel was born on March 15, 1921, at Whiterock, Manorhamilton, a daughter of Isabella and Robert Nixon.

She was educated at Whiterock National School and early in her career she helped to run the family farm and shop.

On February 15, 1944, Mabel married the late Charles Alfred Henry and settled at Scribbagh, Garrison, where the couple raised three children, Betty, Freddie and Ivan. She worked on the farm and as a home help and she did meals on wheels.

Mabel pursued many interests and she enjoyed membership of a number of organisations. She was a member of Cashel Community Centre, Mothers’ Union, Blacklion ICA, and Garrison Women’s Group, She was a tea maker at the bowls and she was a keen whist player.

The Funeral Service and Thanksgiving for Mabel’s life took place at Kiltyclogher Parish Church on Monday, May 19, when the welcome and introduction were led by the Rev. Ngozi Njoku. The hymns were Lead Us Heavenly Father Lead Us, Rock of Ages, and Great is Thy Faithfulness.

Readings were delivered by Mabel’s granddaughters Ann Keane and Cheryl Veitch, and also by the Rev. Canon David Skuce, who delivered the sermon.

The Eulogy was delivered by the Rev. Canon Noel Regan, who led the prayers, and special music was provided by Claire Maguire.

Mabel is survived by her daughter Betty and husband Stephen, Larne; her son Freddie, Garrison; her son Ivan and wife Jean, Lisbellaw; her sister-in-law Iris, Lisnaskea; grandchildren, great grandch ildren, and the wider family circle. Mabel’s family are thankful for the kind expressions of sympathy received at this time.

The funeral arrangements were by Funeral Director Peter Carty, Garrison. Donations in lieu are being directed to Kiltyclogher Parish Church and Marie Curie.
