The death occurred peacefully on October 16, 2014, of Mrs. Wilhelmina Armstrong, late of Aughinver, Lisnarick, Co. Fermanagh.

Wilhelmina was born on June 3, 1928, the only daughter of William and Martha Swanston. She had four elder brothers, Hugh, Will, Cecil and Wesley, who predeceased her.

Her first job was working in the kitchen of Kesh Intermediate School and from there she went to cook at the Old County Hospital.

She married Edward Armstrong in 1962 and they made their home at Aughinver.

She loved life on the farm with the animals and she enjoyed having friends over to sample her homemade jams and apple pies.

Eddie and Wilhelmina loved travelling and spent most Sundays touring Fermanagh and visiting friends and relatives.

They went to Canada twice and spent time with relatives, which they really enjoyed.

In her final years, when Wilhelmina became unwell and was unable to remain at home, she moved to the County Care Nursing Home which afforded her the care she needed. She was delighted when Eddie moved into the home in 2013 and they were able to spend time together.

Her family is appreciative of the care received at the County Care Nursing Home.

Wilhelmina’s funeral, held at Ballinamallard Methodist Church, was conducted by the Rev. John Beacom, who is also acknowledged by the family. The hymns were Safe in the Arms of Jesus, The Old Rugged Cross and the Lord’s My Shepherd. Burial was at Sydare Cemetery.

Tea provided in the hall was much appreciated.

Wilhelmina is survived by her husband Eddie, sisters in law, nieces and nephews, and the wider family circle.

The funeral arrangements were by Funeral Directors S.R. Elliott and Sons, Darling Street, Enniskillen.
