A much loved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, Mrs. Dorothy (Dot) Law, late of Brownhill Meadows, Irvinestown, the widow of Mr. Charles Law, passed away peacefully in the County Care Nursing Home, Enniskillen, on December 14, 2014. Aged 89 years, she had been in declining health for a short period.

Formerly Dot Ellis, she was originally from Monavreece, Ederney, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Ellis and she went to Ednaveagh School, Ederney.

She went to take up employment in Bangor, before returning to Fermanagh. She married Charles Law from Aghaleague, Ederney, and they made their home on the farm at Aghaleague and raised three children, Thomas, Betty and Ruth.

Dot continued her career, working at a doctor’s practice at Aghagrefin, Ederney. She worked there full-time for many years. At the age of 52 she suffered a stroke, which curtailed her life and her husband cared for her.

The couple moved to Brownhill Meadows, Irvinestown. Charles died 20 years ago and Dot continued to live at Brownhill Meadows. She then went into Shannagh Private Nursing Home, Belleek, followed by the County Care Home, Enniskillen. Her interests included her home, her family and her grandchildren. She had also been in the Mothers’ Union.

Her funeral service at Derryvullen North Parish Church, Irvinestown, was conducted by Canon David Skuce. The hymns were Abide With Me, Still The Night, Holy The Night, and Safe in the Arms of Jesus. Readings included those by the Rev. Ngozi Njoku and family members. Burial followed at Ardess Churchyard. Dot is survived by her son Thomas (and late wife Lilian), and by her daughter Betty and husband Robert, and daughter Ruth and husband Billy.

She leaves her grandchildren and great grandchildren; her brother Henry and her sisters Vera, Jean, Bell and Annie; the wider family circle and her friends.

The funeral arrangements were by Funeral Directors F.G. McFarland and Sons, Kesh.
