Ulster Farmers' Union in Fermanagh will be holding a series of meetings to assist members in the county to help them correct their farm map and identifying any areas of ineligible land, thus helping to avoid payment delays and penalties under the Single Farm Payment Scheme.

The meetings or mapping clinics will be staffed by DARD staff.

UFU Membership Director, Angus Cuthbert explained; "On a regular basis, UFU Technical Officers are dealing with cases where our members have inadvertently faced significant Single Farm Payment financial penalties or delays because of errors on their farm maps and/or claims on ineligible land. It would be time very well spent for a member to come to one of our meetings and double check the accuracy of his or her farm maps and identify any areas of ineligible land. Financial penalties on mapping errors can be retrospective, meaning the penalty is backdated to previous years claims and the overall cost to the farmer can be very significant".

The UFU Mapping meetings begin in the UFU County Fermanagh Office, Agricultural Centre, Lackaboy, Tempo Road, Enniskillen on Monday next, January 18 2010 with meetings starting at 10.30am and 2.00pm each day and running for six days up to January 29 2010. Any UFU member wishing to attend should contact the UFU Enniskillen office to make an appointment. At each meeting members will be addressed by DARD staff and followed by individual discussion where requested .
