Dressing up for the Gala Ball, a special night for learning disabled
Pauline Lennon, Boyd McBrien, Audrey Woods and June McBrien have a laugh at the Killadeas Gala Ball.
The Killadeas Day Centre's annual gala ball took place in the Killyhevlin Hotel last weekend and was a huge success.
With over 220 in attendance, the centre's manager, Margaret Dolan said it was a "very special" evening.
"It was an opportunity for everyone; staff, family and friends, associated with Killadeas Day Centre to come together and enjoy themselves.
"Tickets were kept to a minimum and we endeavoured to break-even, and that's what we did. It wasn't a fund-raising event, it was just meant to bring us together.
"It was a great night from beginning to end. We started with a champagne reception. We had music by Itchy Feet and a disco, so the floor never stopped all night!" she laughed.
Now in its second year, Margaret explained how the gala ball brings a real message home.
"Through it we see things that you and I would normally take for granted. The getting dressed up, the being out at such a lovely event with the families. It really was such a lovely feeling to see so many adults with learning disabilities experiencing that sort of event for the first time. It was a very special night and the families loved being together," she said.
