The death has taken place at the Millcroft Nursing Home on July 6, 2010, of Mrs. Irene Clarke, late of Bunninubber, Killadeas, aged 87 years.
She was born at Mullinahorn, Newtownbutler, on October 28, 1922, the second eldest of three children of the late William and Harriet Graydon.
At the age of four years, her family moved to Corranewey, Maguiresbridge, where she grew up on the family farm. She attended Maguiresbridge Primary School and after leaving school went to work in the Killyhevlin Hotel, later moving to work at Lough Erne Hotel, Killadeas, where she met her husband Tommy. They were married in 1943 and had three children, Ernest, Ronnie and David. She and her husband Tommy lived all their married life at Killadeas.
Irene was a member of the Mothers’ Union in Killadeas for 59 years. She was also a member of the Star of Erne Ladies L.O.L. 204 at Killadeas and Nelson Memorial W.L.O.L. at Irvinestown for 60 years. Irene also loved going to the Tuesday Club in Killadeas and enjoyed the many day trips. She also had a great interest in gardening.
Her funeral service in Killadeas Parish Church was conducted by the Rev. Mark Watson. The hymns were Amazing Grace, The Lord’s My Shepherd and Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah. Burial was in the adjoining churchyard.
Irene was predeceased by her husband Tommy in May 1980. She is survived by her three sons, Ernest, Ronnie and wife Irene and David. She also leaves her grandchildren and great-grandson.
She was predeceased by her brother Stanley and sister Gertie.
The funeral arrangements were by Austen Stinson, W. T. Morrison, Enniskillen.
