Their first day at primary school is proving an exciting prospect for two Fermanagh schoolgirls - who share a special bond.

Inseparable four-year-olds, Aimee Scannell and Aylisha Dillon (who are actually an aunt and her niece) are really looking forward to starting school together at St. Patrick’s, Mullanaskea, next Wednesday, September 1.

The youngsters, who are more like twin sisters, such is their closeness, are “really excited” about going into primary one, according to Aimee’s mother, Marie, whose daughter Louise is Aylisha’s mother.

Aimee and her niece Aylisha (who is 12 weeks older than her) “do everything together” and entering primary school for the first time will undoubtedly prove a special milestone for the delighted girls.

St. Patrick’s, Mullanaskea is looking forward to all the new primary one children coming in next Wednesday and the start of the new term for all its pupils.

It’s back to business next week for schools across Fermanagh and Tyrone as they open their doors once again at the start of the new school year.

Meanwhile, this week and last week marked the announcements of GCSE and A level examination results and for many of the county’s young people it is a time of change as they prepare to embark on the next stage of their educational journeys.
