IT has been reported that Sean Quinn's world famous hotel, The Belfry, has been put on the market by the bank six years after the Fermanagh businessman bought it for £186 million.
Bank lenders the Bank of Ireland, Barclays and Certus are said to be seeking a buyer for the multi-million pound golf and leisure complex in Warwickshire.
The 550-acre venue is famed for playing host to the prestigious Ryder Cup four times.
According to reports, the Quinn family had intentions to carry out a £150 million development plan that would have involved building a new five-star property but their ambitious plans were thwarted by their financial difficulties.
In the last two years, Mr. Quinn has seen his multi-billion-euro empire take a considerable knock and earlier this year The Belfry was left in the hands of Anglo Irish Bank.
The Financial Times reports than an unnamed Malaysian investor is said to have made an offer of £90 million to purchase the complex.
