A drunken 18-year-old youth seen trying to kick a police woman during a disturbance at Coleshill Park in Enniskillen just before Christmas has been fined £100.

Dean Weir's solicitor, Mr. Tony McGettigan, told Fermanagh Court: "It's the old cliche: when the drink's in, the wit's out."

Weir, from Coleshill Park, admitted attempting to assault the female officer and being disorderly.

A prosecutor explained that around 4.30am on December 20, last year, police were called to an incident at Coleshill Park. They were restraining a man and a number of people were shouting at them. The young men who were shouting were warned to calm down but there were further shouts and screams and Weir was seen attempting to kick a female officer.

Mr. McGettigan said it was a group of young men coming home from a night out with too much drink taken. One of Weir's friend's got involved with police and Weir intervened.
