Assault accused in coma after Christmas Day crash
A 31-year-old man accused of assaulting and threatening to kill a woman remains in a coma, Fermanagh Court has been told.
Nerijus Kudaba, of Derrychara Drive, Enniskillen, is charged with assaulting and threatening to kill Rasa Kudabiene and damaging a car belonging to Damien McCusker.
The three offences were allegedly committed on December 9, last year.
Kubada was critically injured when the black Volkswagen Golf he was driving hit a tree on the side of the Enniskillen to Derrylin road. The crash happened at a sweeping right hand bend at Culkey, about 1.5 miles from Enniskillen, around lunchtime on Christmas Day.
Kubada was due to appear at Fermanagh Court last Wednesday. However, Deputy District Judge Paul Conway was told that he remained in a coma in the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.
A police officer told the court she believed she could connect him with the charges.
There was then some discussion between the Deputy District Judge, a lawyer for the Public Prosecution Service and defence solicitor, Mr. Gary Smyth, as to how the case should proceed, given Kubada's condition.
It was eventually agreed that the case should initially be adjourned for four weeks, until February 1.
