A 36-year-old man who claimed he was buying a car to export it out of Northern Ireland has admitted fraud.

Derek William McConnell, of Foxhill Road, Ballydoolagh, Garvary, Enniskillen, appeared at Coleraine Magistrate's Court.

He pleaded guilty to making a false declaration on February 26, 2009, that he was buying a BMW X5 with the intention of exporting it to the Republic of Ireland, when in fact he had no such intention, and that by dishonestly making the false representation intended to make a profit for himself or cause a loss to Her Majesty's Customs and Excise.

McConnell was bound over to keep the peace and be of good behaviour for two years in the sum of £500.
