More than half Fermanagh couples co-habit before marriage

The average age of a bride and groom in Fermanagh is in their thirties, recently released government figures show.

Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency figures show that the average age of the groom in Fermanagh was 34 and his bride was 31 in 2010.

There were 439 weddings in Fermanagh in 2010 and 140 of those were civil ceremonies.

19 per cent of the couples had been previously married and 52 per cent had previously co-habited at the same address.

The most popular approved venue was Lusty Beg Island.

As for divorce, in 2010, there were 147 in Fermanagh, a much higher figure than surrounding areas like Omagh (90), Strabane (100) and Dungannon (95).
