24-year-old admits sex with a child

A 24-year-old man has admitted having sex with a child.

Darren Maguire, of Rossfad Road, Ballinamallard, appeared at Enniskillen Crown Court and pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual touching, involving penetration, of a girl under the age of 16.

The offence was committed between September 15, 2010, and October 1, 2010.

The girl cannot be named for legal reasons.

Defence barrister, Mr. Ian Turkington, told Her Honour Melody McReynolds that the court would benefit from a pre-sentence report by a probation officer.

Maguire was released on continuing bail and is due to be sentenced at Enniskillen Crown Court on March 7, when he will also be told how long he will spend on the Sex Offenders' Register.
