Man became abusive when police were called
Police investigating a report that a middle-aged man was "hassling" a young girl arrived at a shop to find her crying.
When they spoke to the man, 57-year-old Alexander Boyd, he insisted he had done nothing wrong and then attacked a police woman.
Boyd, from Dernawilt Road, Tully, Rosslea, pleaded guilty at Fermanagh Court to assaulting the officer and being disorderly. He was fined £150.
A prosecutor explained that around 6.30pm on Saturday, January 14, police received a report that Boyd was hassling a girl at a shop at Main Street, Lisnaskea. They arrived to find Boyd in a very intoxicated state. He shouted: "No, no, no, I didn't do anything wrong."
The street was busy at the time and Boyd continued to shout that he had done nothing wrong. He then pushed a police woman in the stomach, shouting: "F--k off, I done nothing wrong."
Lunging forward, he struck the officer twice on the hand, shouting: "What have I done? For f--k sake just take me back home."
Defence solicitor, Mr. Myles McManus, said the incident took place at a Spar Shop and when police arrived a young girl of about 14 appeared to be crying. They asked her what had happened and she told them a man had frightened her as she couldn't get past him but he hadn't touched her.
Mr. McManus said Boyd had consumed a significant amount of alcohol and the only reason the matter was before the court was because he was abusive.
