£36,000 Lottery cash for four groups
A group that helps women in crisis is among four in Fermanagh sharing a £36,000 win on the Big Lottery Fund's Awards for All programme.
The Aisling Centre Company Ltd., at Darling Street in Enniskillen, works to improve the lives and opportunities of people in Fermanagh. It has been awarded £9,400 to provide counselling and workshops offering advice and support to women who are dealing with difficult circumstances in their lives.
Killyfole and District Development Association, near Rosslea, has been awarded £9,550 to turn an unused, run-down area of ground in the area into a vibrant, village green for the use of local residents.
The green will be a place where people can enjoy walking and physical exercise and take part in activities that boost their health and well-being.
St. Paul's Primary School in Irvinestown, will use its grant of £8,720 to provide a range of workshops for both parents and children.
St. Mary's Primary School in Maguiresbridge is getting £8,657 to expand its library and provide a computer facility.
Frank Hewitt, Northern Ireland chairman of the Big Lottery Fund, explained that Awards for All offer community, voluntary and statutory groups the chance to apply for small grants of between £500 and £10,000 that will have a big impact on local communities and the lives of people most in need.
"The Awards for All programme funds health, education, environment and community projects that help people bring about positive change in their lives, improve health and well-being, develop skills and create safer communities," he said.
"The application process is simple and accessible and shall remain so, making it easy for applicants to successfully apply for small pots of funding that can have such a big impact on local communities and lives," added Mr. Hewitt.
