21-year-old Kerri Robinson has been unveiled as this year's Lady of the Lake.

Fermanagh's biggest festival kicked off tonight (Friday) in Irvinestown with hundreds of people taking to the streets to await the arrival of the town's leading lady.

Against the backdrop of Drumharvey Pipe Band, Ardess Accordion Band and Trillick Pipe Band, Kerri arrived on board an Olympic Chariot constructed especially for the occasion by local businessman, Ivan Bradshaw.

There was much excitement when Kerri, who works in S.D Kells in Enniskillen, was unveiled to the crowds.

Speaking to impartialreporter.com afterwards, Kerri said she was excited about the next 12 months.

"It is a great honour and I am totally shocked at being picked. I only found out a few days ago and didn't even tell my mum. It has been a hard job keeping it secret! My face is sore from smiling," she said.

The festival continues all week with a full programme of family fun events, including Ireland's hole digging contest.

So if you fancy winning £200 and a spade get yourself along to the competition on July 21.

"I am excited about it. You never know we might find gas. In fact, whoever finds gas will win an empty drum. You can tell people fracking has started early," joked organiser Joe Mahon.
