ENNISKILLEN'S Church Street will be transported back to a scene from the 19th Century this evening (Sunday) as Blakes of the Hollow marks its 125th anniversary.

One of the most famous pubs in Ireland and a favoured haunt for artists and musicians of all backgrounds, Blakes has remained a visual constant down through the years.

Where most other shop fronts have gradually changed with the times, Blakes still stands proudly today as it always has on Church Street with its familiar black and red facade.

And it is in this sentiment that the owners of Blakes are recreating a street scene from 1887, when the much loved bar first appeared in Enniskillen, to celebrate the milestone.

It is hoped that everyone in attendance at the event this evening will enter into the spirit of the occasion by dressing up in the finery of the 19th Century period.

There will be a chance to have pictures taken on a horse and cart from around 7.30pm on Church Street before the main crux of the evening gets underway.

An invitation has been extended for everyone to join the Blake family and staff from the establishment in the Atrium at 8.30pm to recreate the ambiance of a Victorian music-hall, circa 1887.

The Good Old Days': a Victorian costume themed sing-a-long music hall extravaganza, will take place in Blakes with songs performed by the Enniskillen Light Operatic Society, accompanied by the Bob Quick Orchestra.

A pre-theatre menu, in the theme of the 19th Century is also available in Cafe Merlot on the night from 6pm.
