Teemore booked their place in the Kevin Courtney Garages Intermediate Football Championship final at Brewster Park tonight but they were pushed all the way by a battling Maguiresbridge side.

The contest only really came to life in the second half as three unanswered Maguiresbridge points put them one point in front with eight minutes to go.

However, A scrambled Liam Martin goal put Teemore back in the driving seat and they managed to see out the remainder of the tie to secure the victory.

The first half was low on both scoring and quality with the sides going in level at the break, 1-1 to 0-04.

Martin accounted for 0-3 of Teemore's first half tally with Declan Drumm also notching a point while Maguiresbridge bagged their goal through Liam Maye after he was teed up by Colum Rice.

Teemore then had a Gerry Quinlan goal disallowed early in the second half, the full forward adjudged to have fouled Martin McCann in the Maguiresbridge goal.

Substitute Declan Fitzpatrick kicked a couple of points on his introduction as Teemore moved into a 0-8 to 1-3 lead but then Maguiresbridge hit back with scores from Liam Maye, Daniel Teague and Matthew Teague to put an upset on the cards.

However, with two minutes to go Martin forced the ball into the back of the net after good work from Ryan Maguire and Damian Lee and Maguire then added a further point in added on time to ensure Teemore's progression to the decider.
