Once again it's that time of year for school and college prize-givings in Fermanagh and Tyrone. Among the first to hold the special evening was Fivemiletown College, which held it's Annual Prize Distribution last night, Thursday, September 20.

The event was opened by Dr. Walter Boyd, Chairman of the Board of Governors who welcomed pupils, staff and guests, including guest of honour Dr. Ken Gibson and his wife to a night of celebration.

Speaking on the theme of 'success', he thanked the staff, both teaching and non-teaching, for their dedication and tireless efforts throughout the year. He praised the pupils for the achievements.

The Principal, Mr. Alistair Dunne, in his annual report, outlined the achievements of pupils and developments in the school over the previous year. He said they were now very fortunate to have some of the most up to date facilities in Northern Ireland.

Mr. Dunne also formally welcomed the new Vice-Principal, Mrs. Fraser, who has taken up employment from September.

Guest speaker, Dr. Gibson. Principal Lecturer and University College Examinations Officer, Stranmillis University College congratulated all of the pupils on their success in both academic and non-academic aspects of school life. Mrs. Gibson distributed the awards, after which the Head Boy, Conor Louden-Brown, and Head Girl, Natalie Noble presented them with gifts on behalf of the school.
