ENNISKILLEN RNLI were tasked to rescue a stranded elderly man on Monday when his boat broke free from its moorings on Inish Davar on Lower Lough Erne.

Belfast Coastguard requested the launch at 5pm when the man phoned for assistance.

He had tried to retrieve the boat which became loose and drifted away from the jetty. After deliberating he phoned and requested help.

The charity's lifeboat made the short distance from their base at Lough Erne Yacht Club, north to Inish Davar where they retrieved the boat and the man from the island.

Both were returned to the yacht club where the boat was secured and the gentleman was able to get changed and warmed up.
