New rector arrives in Ballinamallard

The Rev. Brian Harper(centre), the new rector of Ballinamallard with the Bishop of Tuam, Killala and Achonry, the Right Rev. Patrick Rooke, who was the preacher and the Bishop of Clogher, the Right Rev. John McDowell at the institution service on Friday evening.

A new rector has been instituted to Magheracross Parish, Ballinamallard.

The Rev. Brian Harper, originally from Dungiven, was instituted by the Bishop of Clogher, the Right Rev. John McDowell on Friday evening.

Mr. Harper has served in St. Columba's Parish, Portadown; Drumglass Parish, Dungannon; the Ballygawley Group and latterly as rector of Mullavilly, between Tandragee and Portodown.

He said he and his wife Heather were looking forward to getting involved in the life of the church in Ballinamallard where the Church of Ireland and Methodist Church run joint ministries, especially in youth work.

They have three children, all involved in work or at university in Northern Ireland, Isle of Man and England.
