Latest: King reigns but Belcoo's Brendan Dolan again shows his class
Brendan Dolan bowed out at the semi-final stages of the World Grand Prix of Darts in Dublin.
Brendan Dolan has bowed out of the World Grand Prix of Darts when beaten 5-2 by Mervyn King in the City West, Dublin.
However, the Belcoo man showed that he is becoming increasingly competitive at this level with this being his second successive last four performance.
King scored heavily throughout but Dolan refused to concede and superb 170 checkout got him back into the game at 2-1 down in sets.
However, the experienced King kept the standards high and while all the sets were competitve King edged 4-1 ahead.
King had darts to win 5-1 but missed and Dolan hit double two to make it 4-2 and keep the game alive.
Dolan needed to kick on but it was King who found another gear to seal the match with his two biggest checkouts of the game to win the seventh set and the match.
King hit 102 and then 132 to win the game 5-2 but Belcoo's Brendan Dolan has shown once again he is a growing force on the PDC tour.
