A 23-year-old man told police he was taking diazepam for a hangover after they found him to be in unlawful possession of the controlled drug.

Jason Thornton, of Rossorry Terrace, Enniskillen, was fined £250 when he appeared at Fermanagh Court and admitted having eight of the tablets and a quantity of herbal cannabis.

A prosecutor told the court the drugs were found when police searched Thornton's house. He arrived home and admitted having them for his own use.

Deputy District Judge Terence Dunlop said Thornton had a previous conviction for a drugs offence and "is not naive about drugs and their use".
