DOZENS of Sean Quinn's former employees are protesting in Derrylin at his imprisonment.

The police have closed a number of routes around the factories and the Quinn Group Headquarters that the former businessman once owned.

According to one resident, local farmers have used their tractors and slurry tanks to block entrances while some Quinn employees, unable to get into work because of the protest, have been advised to go home.

Mr Quinn was sentenced on Friday to nine weeks in prison for contempt of court.

Ms Justice Elizabeth Dunne rejected the 66-year-old's evidence in the contempt hearing as 'not credible, evasive and unco-operative'.
