Almost half the children living in the Devenish electoral ward of Enniskillen are living in povery, according to official statistics.

The Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency figures show that 46.8 per cent of children living in this part of Enniskillen are part of families living on less than 60 per cent of the median income.

Other main towns in the county also have a significant percentage of children living in poverty.

Figures show that in Lisnaskea, around a third of children are living in poverty, while in Irvinestown the percentage is 25, all above the Northern Ireland average of 22.6 per cent.

Other areas above the NI average are Belleek and Boa, Newtownbutler and Rosslea as well as two other electoral wards of Enniskillen, Erne and Castlecoole.
