The inaugural Impartial Reporter Celebration of Sport 2012 proved a resounding success as Olympic triathlete Gavin Noble was crowned Senior Sports Personality of the Year.

Just under 300 people attended the event at the Lough Erne Resort when one of the greatest years in the history of sport in the region was given a fitting celebration.

Guest of honour was Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill while former Impartial Reporter journalist and Sky Sports presenter Graham Little was MC for the night. Ulster rugby stars Jared Payne, Adam D'Arcy and Roger Wilson were also in attendance.

Olympian Gavin Noble was a worthy winner and was in attendance on the night having flown in from South Africa where he is currently training ahead of the new season.

The strength in depth of sporting talent in Fermanagh was readily obvious throughout the night and indeed the accolades of all those nominated reflected well on a great year.

Former Northern Ireland and Glentoran footballer Jimmy Cleary was the first winner of the Impartial Reporter Sporting Great, 30 years after his appearance at the 1982 World Cup in Spain with Northern Ireland.

There was also a strong emphasis on the achievements of the young sporting talent in Fermanagh with Ulster number one U14 tennis player Sarah Cousins winning the Star of the Future award, Irish champion swimmer Alannah Leonard winning the Young Sports Personality of the Year accolade and MacRory Cup champions St. Michael's College winning the Young Sports Team of the Year.

Barry Goan, a leading light in disability sport for many years won the Disability Sports Person of the Year while Ballinamallard's historic 2012 was rewarded as they won the Senior Team of the Year.

The Coach of the Year was jointly won reflecting super years for Ballinamallard United and Clogher Valley as Whitey Anderson and Davy Black and Glen Kyle were all rewarded for their outstanding contributions to their respective teams in 2012.
