DISSIDENT republican group glaigh na hireann (ONH) have claimed the target for the bomb discovered in Fermanagh at the weekend was the Lough Erne Resort, the venue for the G8 Summit in June.
A 60kg device consisting of home made explosives contained in a beer keg was found in a car abandoned near Derrylin on Friday.
PSNI Area Commander Pauline Shields released a statement on Saturday -- after the device had been defused by army technical officers -- claiming the bomb was destined for Lisnaskea Police Station.
But in a statement to UTV, which claims to be from ONH, the group said the target was the Lough Erne Resort in Enniskillen.
However, Ms Shields has this evening played down the claims by glaigh na hireann.
In a statement to impartialreporter.com, the senior officer said: "This was an attempt to murder and maim. We have already said what our assessment is. It cannot be overlooked that this was an attempt to cause death."
