ULSTER Unionist MLA Tom Elliott has said the Intec Centre in Enniskillen should be renamed the Thatcher Centre in memory of Margaret Thatcher, who died last week.

Mr Elliott told The Impartial Reporter: "Prime Minister Thatcher, as she was then, showed great solidarity with the peaceful society of Northern Ireland and we fondly remember the support she gave to those from Fermanagh following the Remembrance Day bomb. It would be fitting that this should be marked in a tribute to Baroness Thatcher."

The former prime minister's funeral took place in London earlier today.

"Given that the development of the now Clinton and Intec centres were developed following that terrible atrocity of murder and mayhem and the Clinton Centre was named after the former United States President it would be very appropriate that the other part of that project should be named after the former United Kingdom Prime Minister, Baroness Thatcher, who gave great support to the law-abiding people of Fermanagh." he said.
