Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal was this year supported by over 12 local primary schools in the Clogher and Fermanagh areas.

The local children took part in a variety of events to raise money, including Wearing Yellow to School Fun Days and selling the Marie Curie Daffodil pin to fellow pupils, family and friends.

The Great Daffodil Appeal took place during March and is Marie Curie’s biggest fundraiser. All the funds raised from the appeal will help Marie Curie Nurses to provide more free care to people with terminal illnesses in their own homes and in the Marie Curie Hospices.

Sheena Havlin, Fundraising Manager said: “We have had a fantastic response locally to our appeal this year. The school children really went all out to raise as much money as they could to show their support. It is great that young children are aware of the need to do good and help others” The children all came together at the home of Marie Curie Patron, Caro Hamilton Stubber at Aughentaine, Fivemiletown and enjoyed the wonderful display on daffodils, and met Marie Curie’s mascot, Mr Daffy. Caro explained to the children that “every penny you can raise is vital in helping Marie Curie Nurses provide more care to people with terminal illnesses in their own homes, as well as emotional support for their families.”
