Kilkenny-man Andrew Phelan has been appointed as General Manager of the Lough Erne Resort.
Mr. Phelan has experience of managing five star hotels, including the Mount Juliet Hotel, Kilkenny and St. Andrews Old Course Hotel, Scotland.
After graduating from Shannon College of Hotel Management, he went to Switzerland in order to further develop his career in the hospitality industry. In Europe, he managed the Zala Springs Resort (Hungary’s first master planned golf and thermal spa resort).
Most recently, he managed the five-star Castlemartyr Resort, Cork and was Operations Manager of the Guiness Storehouse, Dublin.
Mr. Phelan has also project managed the five-star Heritage Golf and Spa in Killenard, County Laois and the four-star Mount Wolseley Hotel and Golf Resort, County Carlow. He has also set up a Project Management and Marketing Consultancy and is a member of the Castle Hotel Management Company.
Mr. Phelan will take up the post in May, replacing Tipperary-native Ferghal Purcell, who managed the resort for the last two years.
