A 71-year-old pensioner who threatened a man with a shotgun has been sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for three years.

Robert Elliott, of Tattymacall Road, Lisbellaw, appeared at Dungannon

Crown Court and admitted that on December 18, last year, he had a

shotgun with intent to cause the man to fear unlawful violence would be

used against him or someone else.

A second charge, that he assaulted Leo Breen on the same date, was “left

on the books”, not to be proceeded with without leave of the court or

the Court of Appeal.
