A 21-year-old man has been given a suspended prison sentence for urinated on the front door of a woman’s house and spitting on the steering wheel of a police car.

Denzil Patrick Jones, of Crott Road, Boho, was also ordered to pay compensation totalling £531.20 after he admitted damaging the door and the police car and that his behaviour was indecent.

A prosecutor told Fermanagh Court that on the morning of June 1, police received a report that Jones was kicking the front door of a house on Old Henry Street in Enniskillen. Officers arrived at the property to find a puddle on the ground and a smell of urine. Jones was placed into a police car and spat on the steering wheel.

Defence solicitor David Buchanan described it as “an unsavoury set of circumstances” of which Jones remembers “very little”. He apologised unreservedly for his “atrocious actions”. He had a previous relevant conviction when he was 18.

Deputy District Judge Liam McStay said Jones could offer no reason for his behaviour other than being drunk.

“That’s disgraceful and it’s going to cost you a lot of money,” he told him .

Sentencing him to two months in prison, suspended for 12 months, he told him it was important he applied himself to his work and paid the compensation and “don’t drink to excess”.
