American tour operators recently stopped off in the county to explore its American WWII connection.
Visiting last week were Major Bill McCulloch, United States Marine Corps, USMC, (retired) and Col Dave Wall, United States Marine Corps Reserve, USMCR, (ret.), from Military Historical Tours, Inc.
They travelled to Northern Ireland from the US to explore the Province's American WWII connection.
During their trip, Bill and Dave made the journey to Fermanagh, where they visited Castle Archdale’s WWII Exhibition and Portora Playing Fields. The two men met with local man, Roger Edmondson whose father was an American GI who arrived in Northern Ireland in December 1943.
Tanya Cathcart from Fermanagh Lakeland Tourism met the group at the Lough Erne Resort to discuss potential new business for the Fermanagh Lakelands area. Their subsequent travels took them to Armagh and Belfast, having previously visited Carrickfergus and Derry.
Bill and Dave were guests of the Northern Ireland Tourist Board and Tourism Ireland who arranged their itinerary with the assistance of Consultant Ian Henderson, and hosted their stay in Northern Ireland.
