A young Belleek photographer has won a photography award as part of Ulster Wildlife's Nature Matters Photography competition.

Margaret Harris, from Belleek was winner of the budding photographers age 12 – 18 category for her photo of ‘Robin growing up fast’.

Margaret was one of 12 photographers from across Ulster who had their work celebrated at the weekend at Belfast City Hall as part of Ulster Wildlife’s ‘Nature Matters’ Photography Competition. The competition, which called for photographers of all ages and abilities, to capture Ulster’s amazing wildlife and wonderful wild places, was judged by a panel of experts with an over-all winner picked through an online public vote. The winning photographs will be on public display in Belfast City Hall until September 20. The exhibition, sponsored by Bombardier Aerospace and supported by Ulster Wildlife Ambassador Jenny Bristow and guest speaker, Tony Juniper, well-known environmentalist and author of acclaimed book, “What has nature ever done for us?”, will offer visitors to Belfast City Hall the opportunity to see how these talented photographers have captured Ulster’s very unique wildlife and places.. Jennifer Fulton, Chief Executive Officer with Ulster Wildlife said: “ Ulster Wildlife is delighted to recognise and celebrate the unique talents of our local photographers who have managed to capture some amazing images which showcase our special places and wildlife . Nature matters, from the air we breathe and water we drink, to the bees that pollinate the food we eat, and green spaces that improve our wellbeing, we all benefit from being connected to the natural world.” Ambassador for Ulster Wildlife Jenny Bristow added: “What a pleasure it has been to look at and enjoy these 12 stunning images. Not only are they a joy to behold but they reveal our stunning landscapes, rich shoreline and wealth of native wildlife.
