ACTORS and celebrities have taken to Twitter to pay tribute to Bellanaleck born actress Clare Cathcart who died in Brighton yesterday.

Ms. Cathcart appeared in the BBC's 'Call the Midwife' alongside comedienne Miranda Hart recently but had many television and theatre credits to her name.

The daughter of Arthur and Doreen, and sister of Adrian, Ms. Cathart was a much loved mother of two whose death has devastated all those who knew her in the Fermanagh area.

And on Twitter, tributes have been pouring in from many of the actors and actresses Ms. Cathcart worked with, including Miranda Hart who described her as “a ball of joy”.

"Reeling from closer to home news of Clare Cathcart. Had the privilege of some serious laughing with her on call the midwife,” wrote Ms. Hart.

Former 'Coronation Street' actor Charlie Condon, who played Marcus in the soap, said Ms. Cathcart was “one of the most beautiful people I've known”.

“Such a shock when someone so full of life dies. She will be so missed by so many,” he said, saying he would treasure his 20 year friendship “forever”. “I love you Clare Cathcart”.

'Hustle' star Adrian Lester tweeted: “Such sad news about Clare Cathcart. A mischievous, restless talent. My thoughts go out to her relatives and children”.

Shane Richie, who plays Alfie Moon in Eastenders, wrote: “Clare Cathcart, the little time I spent with you will stay with me always, you funny, beautiful crazy lady”.

Actress Tracy Ann Oberman wrote: “Clare Cathcart; a brilliant actress, comedienne, life affirmer, woman's woman, survivor, mother and friend. The world is a poorer place,” she said.

Comedian Lenny Henry tweeted: “She was bright and very funny. She'll be missed”.

In a statement from Amanda Howard Associates, a spokesperson said: "It is with huge sadness that we have to report the death of our beloved friend and client Clare Cathcart. Clare was brilliant, fearless and funny; a wonderful actor who we are immensely proud to have represented.

"Her credits are too vast to list in full but, to name a few, she’ll be remembered for her work at The Royal Court, The RSC, The National, The Tricycle and Chichester Festival Theatre as well as innumerable appearances on screen, most recently in New Tricks and Call The Midwife.

"Without her razor-sharp wit and glorious laugh the world will seem a darker place. We will miss her enormously."
