A convicted sex offender accused of sexually assaulting a woman has been remanded in custody because of the risk he would commit further offences.

Michael Quinn, of Edenmore Road, Doon, Tempo, reacted violently at Fermanagh Court when District Judge Nigel Broderick refused to release him on bail.

Standing in the dock, the 25-year-old pointed to the District Judge shouting: “See you. See you. If you looked at my (criminal) record, I haven’t been in trouble for thee years.” Prison officers had to physically restrain him and take him to the holding cells to await his transfer to jail.

Quinn is charged with sexually and physically assaulting a woman, who cannot be named by order of the court.

He is also accused of committing an act of a “lewd, obscene and disgusting nature” by exposing his person to another woman.

Quinn is further charged with threatening to kill a man.

A fifth charge accuses him of breaching a SOPO (Sexual Offences Prevention Order) designed to protect the public from serious harm from a sex offender.

The officer in charge of the case told the court he believed he could connect Quinn to the five offences.

Quinn was remanded in custody to appear by video link from prison on October 13.
