The South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen has been treating a number of the 48 schoolchildren involved in a crash between their Translink bus and a car near Drumquin this morning.

The collision occurred early this morning as pupils were making their way to secondary schools in Omagh.

The Western Education and Library Board, in a statement said: "It has been confirmed that 48 passengers have been taken away from the scene of accident, none of whom are believed to have serious injuries. The children and the occupants of the car have been taken to the South West Acute Hospital and Altnagelvin Hospital.

A WELB spokesperson said: “Thankfully, there appears to be no major injuries. The safety and wellbeing of pupils is the WELB’s main concern and the Board continues to liaise with PSNI, Translink and both hospitals.”
