A wind farm formerly owned by Sean Quinn has been sold for £100 million.
The 54MW wind farm in Slieve Rushen was originally developed by the business tycoon in 1994. It was put up for sale in June 2013 by administrator Grant Thornton.
Today's Irish Times reports that Platina Partners, a London- based renewable energy investor, has acquired the giant wind farm for £100 million (€127 million) from the State-appointed administrators of Quinn Insurance.
Thomas Rottner, managing director of Platina, told The Irish Times that he had not spoken to Sean Quinn in relation to the sale and that the company is “always aware of local sensitivities.” The administrators of Quinn Insurance have now sold most of its non-core assets with the exception of a building in Dublin city centre and a small number of apartments.
