Ballinamallard moved four points clear of the bottom two as goals from a Jason McCartney penalty and a well struck Liam Martin effort secured Whitey Anderson's side the points in their foot of the table clash against Dungannon Swifts.

Dungannon could feel aggrieved to have gone in a goal down at the break with the away side having controlled things for long spells in the first half.

However it was Ballinamallard who went in a goal to the good at the break, the home side taking the lead in the 17th minute from the penalty spot.

The awarding of the spot kick would fall into the soft category after Raymond Foy went down in the box and Jason McCartney stepped up to fire to the top corner beyond former Mallards goalkeeper Alvin Rouse.

Dungannon did push forward in search of an equaliser but Ballinamallard goalkeeper Stafan McCusker pulled off a fine save to deny Andrew Burns while Matt Hazley fired wide.

The Mallards lifted their game after the break and both John Currie and Ryan Campbell were denied by Rouse before livewire Martin swooped for their second.

He raced through and drilled a shot across Rouse to the far corner to give the Mallards all three points which puts daylight between them and the bottom two.
