It is the fourth time that Ms. Gildernew has been selected to run for the Westminster seat once held by hunger striker Bobby Sands.
The decision was announced tonight at Sinn Fein's Fermanagh-south Tyrone convention at The Enniskillen Hotel.
Speaking to impartialreporter.com moments after the selection, Ms. Gildernew described running again as "very humbling".
"It's a massive honour to be asked by your peers to run in a Westminster election. You realise that people are putting their faith in you and you have to work very hard.
They want to see somebody who is very active, who is working on their behalf, and that's what I will try to do," she said.
