A 35-year-old man with an “appalling record” of motoring offences has admitted driving without a licence and insurance.
Robert Hilland, of Cooneen Road, Fivemiletown, was fined £185 and banned from driving for 12 months.
A prosecutor told Fermanagh Court that police were operating a vehicle check point on the Cooneen Road on Tuesday, August 12. At 8.40pm they stopped Hilland driving a Volkswagen Sharan. He was given seven days to produce his licence and insurance. Police subsequently checked and nothing had been produced.
A defence lawyer said Hilland was unable to offer any excuse for his actions.
“Clearly he has a significant record for road traffic offences,” the lawyer added.
Deputy District Judge Terence Dunlop said: “He has an appalling record for this type of behaviour. He doesn’t seem to have learnt any lesson.”
