A 35-year-old woman accused of keeping a house where men paid for sex with prostitutes appeared at Fermanagh Court yesterday (Wednesday).
Tereza Fedechen is charged that on October 15, she kept or managed a brothel, contrary to the Sexual Offences Order of 2008.
She appeared in court in the company of Thomas “Tucker” McCaffrey from Enniskillen.
She stood in the dock dressed in a black jacket and black leggings as the brothel keeping charge was put to her.
Asked if she understood the charge, the Brazilian national replied: “No.” Defence solicitor Emer Cox then had a brief consultation with Fedechen in the dock.
Fedechen was again asked if she understood the charge against her.
She nodded and said: “Yes.” A policewoman told the court that while she was not the investigating officer, she was aware of all the facts and circumstances of the case.
She said she could connect Fedechen with the charge.
A prosecutor told the court the Public Prosecution Service has asked for a full police file on the case and that usually takes four to six weeks.
District Judge Nigel Broderick adjourned the case for four weeks, telling Fedechen: “You must come back to court on December 3.” He released her on £500 bail on condition that she resides at Clarion Quay in Dublin and her passport and identification card are retained by the police.
Fedechen was then led away by custody staff to complete her bail.
She left Enniskillen Courthouse a short time later with Mr. McCaffrey.
