‘Awful chancer’ Meaning: To push one’s luck and exploit any opportunity to further one’s own ends.
Example: Bob to Charlie: “Charlie, me shovel is banjaxed”.
Charlie to Bob: “Ye poor oul crater ye” Bob to Charlie: “I’ll not get thon hole dug the night - ye may do it”.
Charlie to Bob: “Get away at that. Yer an awful chancer, so ye are”.
