OVER 400 crimes were reported to police in Fermanagh and south Tyrone in one month.

The largest category of crime reported was anti-social behaviour, with 161 incidents (39 per cent) across Fermanagh and the Clogher Valley in September. This works out as an average of five personal, environmental or nuisance anti-social incidents reported each day.

Violent or sexual offences accounted for 21 per cent of all offences (with 86 incidents reported). An average of three of these offences – which include common assaults, grievous bodily harm and sexual offences – are reported locally each day.

Notably, small villages are seeing violent and sexual offences account for a large proportion of their overall crime record.

In September, violent and sexual offences accounted for: n four out of four crimes recorded in Trillick; n five out of seven crimes recorded in Derrygonnelly; n five out of nine crimes recorded in Rosslea; and n four out of eight crimes recorded in Lisbellaw.

Vehicle crime (14 incidents), theft (29 incidents) and burglary (18 incidents) were also recorded by PSNI in local towns and villages across the county in one month.

This is the most recent crime data published by the PSNI. However, as only around a half of crimes are thought to be reported to the police, the statistics provides only a snapshot of the total crime which takes place in reality.
