A 38-year-old woman caught on CCTV driving away from a shop claimed her car had not moved all day.

Sonia Dorrian, of Coolcullen Meadow, Enniskillen, was fined £500 and banned from driving for 12 months for not having a licence and insurance.

She was not present nor legally represented at Fermanagh Court when the case was heard.

A prosecutor explained that on Wednesday, July 2, police on patrol in the Cornagrade area of Enniskillen saw a Nissan Almera parked outside a shop. They saw Dorrian getting into the driver’s seat. The police turned their car to go back and speak to her but she had left the area. They checked and found the car was not insured.

The prosecutor said that when the police called at Dorrian’s home she told them the car had not moved all day and no-else had permission to take the vehicle. Police checked CCTV and established that the car was at the shop at the time.
